Linda "Carol" Settle Peyton's Obituary
Carol Peyton, 58, of Boston, VA, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born on October 25, 1966, to Effie Settle Foster and the late Harry “Brown” Settle.
Carol was raised from birth in Castleton and graduated from Rappahannock County High School. After graduation, she moved to Culpeper, VA.
She is survived by her husband Jeff Peyton of Boston, VA, and her daughter Kamry Peyton Payne, son-in-law RW Payne, and her two cherished and adored grandsons, Jonthan Warren “JW” Payne and Beau James Frederick Payne of Spotsylvania, VA.
She is survived by her seven siblings: Pat Settle (Ray Fincham), Rosalie Alther, Brenda Payne (Carl), Nancy Newlin (Harry), Bonnie Wharton (Tommy), Larry Settle (Theresa), and Bev Brown (Joey). Carol is survived by 15 nephews and nieces who will miss her love, kindness, and her big, beautiful smile, along with 40 great-nephews and nieces. She is survived by Donnie & Donna Foster and Dennis Foster (Debbie), her stepbrothers, whom she always considered and loved as her brothers and sisters.
Carol is survived by her mother-in-law, Nina Mae Peyton, her sister-in-law Carolyn “Penny” Frigiola (James), her brother-in-law Kendal Peyton (Kim Thayer), and two nieces.
Carol was preceded in death by her stepfather, Turner Freeman Foster, Jr., and her father-in-law, James “Jim Peyton”, both of whom she loved dearly and were a very important part of her life. Also, she was preceded in death by two brother-in-laws, John Wayne Settle and James L. Alther, who had a special place in her heart.
Carol leaves behind numerous friends and acquaintances who are better for having known her. She brightened many lives. She had a kind, loving personality and never met a stranger – her heart was large and full of love, kindness, and compassion.
Carol worked at Culpeper Petroleum (Southern States) in Culpeper and leaves behind her work family, who showed their love for her in many ways.
Carol was an active member of Slate Mills Baptist Church and was baptized on September 17, 2023.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
The service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Found and Sons Chapel with Pastor Daniel Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Jeffersonton, Va. Carol’s nephews will serve as her pallbearers: Mark Settle, David Settle, Chris Settle, Tim Alther, Kevin Alther, Brian Wharton, and LB Settle.
