Lillie M. Eddy's Obituary
Lillie Mae “Monk” Eddy, 81, a native of Culpeper, VA was received into the loving arms of her Lord on Monday January 12, 2009 at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. She was born on November 13, 1927 to the late Charlie Franklin Robinson and Susie Smith Robinson.
Lillie married Thomas Roosevelt Eddy in 1952. From this union, one son and two daughters were brought into this world. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clement “Dee” Robinson; four sisters, Althea “Snooks” Sanders, Fannie Williams, Dora “Pot” Robinson; and her estranged husband Thomas Eddy. She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church until the issues of Dementia arose. As a member of Antioch, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, member of the Senior Choir and served as president for two years, a member of the Flower Guild as well as acting as the assistant secretary and secretary. During her membership, she was active in conducting fund raisers, assisting with the pageants and contests of Miss Antioch and Mrs. Antioch, worked with Church leadership in holding Bake Sales, Cakewalks, Teas, Lawn Parties and other functions to encourage the young people into Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory; one sister Anna “Mickey” Williams of Beltsville, Maryland; one son Vasquez “Lonnie” Eddy (Jane) of Charleston, South Carolina; two daughters Gwendolyn “Babe” Parker of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Faye Eddy of Lynchburg, Virginia; three grandsons Vasquez “Lonnell” Eddy of Miami, Florida, Glendale Parker of Falls Church, Virginia, Derek Eddy (Vivian) of Avon, Ohio; two great-granddaughters Alana Eddy and Janna Eddy of Miami, Florida; and one great-grandson Jalen Eddy of Avon, Ohio. A special mention to her second son Ronald Thomas, third daughter Judy Thomas, and nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and relatives too numerous to mention but not forgotten.
Her favorite pastime was talking to her friends in Culpeper; Rena Reaves, Viola Carpenter, Martha Wright, Fannie Bunch, and Fredricka Hill.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Family visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. before the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
