Lile Norwood Stevens' Obituary
Lile Norwood Stevens, Jr., 72, of Culpeper died Monday, June 15, 2009 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born April 6, 1937 in Campbell County, VA to the late Lile N. Stevens and Blannie Roark Stevens.
Mr. Stevens served his county in the United States Air Force as a Basic Airman Communications Specialist in Canada during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired law enforcement officer with the Virginia State Police also retiring as Deputy Sherriff with Fairfax County Police Department. He took great pride in his career and did it well. His devoted nature to his family and fellow officers will always be remembered and honored.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Delcia Sue Stevens of Culpeper, his daughter, Sandra Stevens of Richmond, and two step children, Dava O’Connell of Culpeper and David Small of North Myrtle Beach, SC.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Nancy Bizde and her husband, Hun of Richmond, and Arlene Barksdale of Lynchburg, grandchildren, Amanda and Samantha O’Connell and Brent and Cheyenne Small, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kerry Kingsford Stevens.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery (NEW) with Rev. John Farrar officiating. Honors will be provided by the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard, American Legion Post 330 and VFW Post 2524.
