Lewis "Pete" Hixson's Obituary
Lewis “Pete” Carlyle Hixson, 82 of Brightwood, died Friday, December 23, 2016 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church. He was born June 29, 1934 in Culpeper, Virginia to the late Hunter Pope Hixson and the late Madge Vaughn Hixson.
Lewis, who was commonly known as “Pete” is survived by his wife of the last 37 years, Karen Hoffman Hixson and their five children; Larry Hixson and his wife Kay of Clearwater beach, Florida, Linda Bauer and her husband Barry of Overland Park, Kansas, Marie Derobertis and her husband Ed of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Martie Perez of San Diego, California and Carla Hixson of Orange California.
He is also survived by ten grandchildren, one whom he raised as his own son, Matthew Gutierrez and two great grand children.
Lewis lived most of his life in San Diego, though moved back to Virginia to be closer to his wife’s family. He had a great love for racing, previously having a race horse of his own, he had a passion for watching the ponies run and any form of racing from motorcycles to ponies. Pete was a member of Culpeper Methodist Church in Culpeper. Pete also enjoyed bluegrass music and jamming with his friends or just playing his guitar to himself.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
