Lester A. Yowell's Obituary
Lester Augustus “Gus” Yowell, age 76 of Culpeper, VA died the morning of October 8, 2009 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. He was born February 2, 1933 in Madison, VA to parents Lester B. Yowell and Mazie M. Weakley Yowell.
He was a member of Novum Baptist Church and graduated from Culpeper High School in 1951. In 1953 he entered into the service of his country by joining the United States Army, serving in the 2nd Armored Division in Germany until 1955. Most of his working career was spent with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company where he retired after 30 years in 1989. He has been a member of the American Legion, an avid football fan and enjoyed gardening but most importantly he should be remembered for his willingness and desire to help others in times of need.
He is survived by three sons, David A. Yowell, Donald W. Yowell and companion, Debbie A Miller, Edward L. Yowell and wife, Laurie L. Yowell of Culpeper, VA; two sisters, Evelyn M. Yowell of Culpeper and Louise Jenkins and husband, Jimmy Jenkins of Brightwood, VA; one brother, Randolph B. Yowell of Culpeper, VA; two grandchildren, Amanda J. Yowell and Rayna M. Yowell; two step grandchildren, David V. Means and Jason M. Means; numerous cousins, friends and devoted neighbor Penny King.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Betty Jean Clark and long time friend, Mary Suddith.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Jeff Light officiating. A one hour visitation will be held prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jenkins, Billy Jenkins, Collis Fincham, Jason Yowell, David Means, Jason Means and Clarence Batten.
