LeRoy Clarence Turner
LeRoy Clarence Turner of Wellington, Florida, Palm Beach County passed away on September 19, 2006 at the Hospice of Palm Beach. He was 76. He was preceded in death in 1987 by his youngest son James. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucille Richards Turner and his son, Jeffrey of the U.S. Virgin Islands., his brother, James Jim Turner and his wife, Gloria of Culpeper, and their daughters, Mary, Gigi and Lisa, his brother-in-law, Milton Richards of Washington, D.C. and his wife, Karen, and their daughters, Kelli, and Stephanie and her husband, Anthony of Lawrence, PA. and his special friends Bobby and Sally Slaughter of Griffinsburg and many cousins and other relatives.
LeRoy was born in New York the second son of James Turner and Mary Ellen Tutt Turner.
After graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point, class of 1954, he spent time in the military service before joining the Foreign Service where he served with distinction tours in South East Asia and assignments in Europe to include Germany and two tours as a member of the US Mission to the United States Nations headquarters at Geneva, Switzerland and was accompanied by his wife and sons.
After retirement in 1980 the family moved to South Florida, where he was able to engage in some of his favorite passions which included writing and boating.
As per his request he will be inurned at a private service at Good Hope Cemetery on Norman Rd in Virginia along side his parents and other relatives.
A pending memorial service will be held at a later date at West Point.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Hospice Organization of your choice.
