Leota Carter Johnson's Obituary
Leota “Maye” Carter Johnson, 81, of Culpeper went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 10, 1926 in Barnsville, Ohio to the late Belford Russell Carter and Arizona Wagner Carter.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church and was a member of a self help group for 39 years. She was the wife of a wonderful husband and friend of fifty seven years, William Henry Johnson.
She is survived by her siblings, Fred Russell Carter of Toronto, OH, Nola Alice Argano of Wintersville, OH, Elfrieda Irene Jones of Stubenville, OH, and Ethel Mae Pickens of Silver Spring, MD, her loving cousin and friend, John “Tommy” Hoffman and his wife, Joyce, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and caring close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband and companion, William Henry Johnson, one sister, Edythe Moore, three brothers, James Clarence Carter, Ernest Flanigan, Alvin Carter, and one nephew, Fred “Tinker” Carter, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 13, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Woodland United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Wilbur officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodland United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Thomas Hoffman, Rev. John Grotz, David Jenkins, D. Ryan Marker, Larry Freeman, Bryan Means, David Dwyer, and David Watt.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Woodland United Methodist Church, 150 Garr Avenue, Culpeper, VA 22701.
