Leonard Joseph Kopjanski's Obituary
Leonard Joseph Kopjanski, 82, of Boston, VA and formerly of Shelton, CT, departed this life in peace on March 6, 2009.
Len was the former owner of White Hills Orchard in Huntington, CT from where he retired in 2000 and moved to Boston, VA to be with his children. In addition to farming, he also retired from Southern New England Telephone Company after thirty five years of service in various positions. Leonard served in the U.S. Navy Pacific Command during World War II as an electrician in the submarine division. He also served briefly in the U.S. Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Cinthia K. Thornhill, of Boston, VA and her daughter, USNR Ensign Brittany S. Thornhill, of St. Louis, MO. Also by, his son, Gary and his wife, Melanie Kopjanski and their children, Hanna, Maddie, Andrew Leonard, and Benjamin of Boston, VA. In addition, he is survived by, his former wife Irene Kopjanski of Boston, VA. Leonard was one of thirteen children born to the now deceased, Pauline and Joseph Kopjanski of Hamden, CT and is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Cigich and her husband, Steve of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
A celebration of his life and legacy will be held on Friday, April 3rd beginning at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Culpeper with visitation at noon then a 1:00 memorial service followed by a procession to the new section of the Culpeper National Cemetery for a brief military service.
