Leonard May, Sr.'s Obituary
Leonard Elwood May, Sr., 72 - born, April 21, 1937, and raised in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Boyd County High School, Ashland, KY – Class of “55”. He passed at home with family and friends on September 10, 2009 in Spotsylvania, Virginia.
He is a retired Staff Sergeant, of 20 years, in the U.S. Army. He served in the Vietnam War and was assigned in Italy, Germany, and South Korea.
Gardening was a favorite past time. He was an avid fisherman and a fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He was a friend to anyone he met.
Surviving him are siblings Paul May and Ruby Runyon. His children are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard E. May, Jr., Tina M. May, and Mr. and Mrs. James A. May and grandchildren Matthew, Steven, Ashley, Brittany, Quinnton, Rheece, and Rheanna. He is also survived by nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family will have an hour of receiving friends on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 5:00 to 6:00P.M. A celebration of life ceremony will follow with Pastor Bob Schultz officiating. He will be laid to rest at Golden Oaks Cemetery in Ashland, KY on April 21, 2010 joining his parents and other family members.
