Leonard Cecil Hughes' Obituary
Leonard ‘Cecil’ Hughes, 92 , of Rixeyville, formerly of Richmond, passed away on November 9, 2020 in Culpeper. He was born October 2, 1928 in Richmond, VA to the late Leonard Highland Hughes and Lillian Aleene Figg Hughes.
Leonard’s hobby was art. He expressed his creativity through calligraphy, drawing and painting. He also shared a passion for music, wrote songs and played bass for the worship team at Grace Gospel Chapel in Richmond, VA where he had been in fellowship for over 50 years.
He is survived by three sons, Lawrence Hughes, Kenneth Hughes (Betsy) and Norman Hughes (Diane); four grandchildren Dustin Hughes, Jason Hughes (Romanayah), Kristen Anderson (Scott) and Nathan Hughes; three great-grandchildren, Lydia Anderson, Phinehas Anderson and Emerald Anderson; and one brother, Melvin Highland Hughes (Diane).
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his spouse of 68 years, Olive ‘Oli’ Hughes.
A private service will be held with Bishop Michael V. Jackson officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2524.
