Leo T. Cyr's Obituary
Leo T. Cyr, 87, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on August 29, 1926 to the late Teddy Cyr and Yvonne Lessard.
Mr. Cyr enlisted in the US Army in 1944 during the latter part of WWII and proudly served his county for 20 years. While stationed in England he coached youth soccer and baseball and continued to coach soccer upon his return to Culpeper. He later worked for the Federal Government in the field of communications until his final retirement. Mr. Cyr was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Culpeper American Legion Post 330, VFW Post 2524, and Culpeper Moose Lodge 1348. He enjoyed working on model railroads and balsa wood models when his health permitted.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Luella; two sons, Kerry Cyr of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Brian Cyr and his wife, Martha of Richmond, VA; and two grandsons, Eric Cyr and Clay Cyr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Dorinda.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 1 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Kate Costa officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, PO Box 1, Culpeper, VA 22701.
