Lela Mae Webb Brown's Obituary
Lela Mae Webb Brown, of Stevensburg, VA went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the age of 91. She was the daughter of the late William Walter Webb and Rosa Nellie Schuyler Webb.
Lela was the oldest member of Stevensburg Baptist Church where she was very active and lovingly gave of herself in missions, music or wherever she could serve the Lord. She participated in the Women’s Missionary Union, Choir, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and many other ministries of the church. Lela was known among her church fellowship, family, friends and community for her faithfulness in making phone calls, visits, and sending cards to encourage and uplift others. Lela was active in the Stevensburg Homemakers Club, AARP, the Culpeper Hospital Auxiliary, and Christian Woman’s Club. She had a wide variety of interests enjoying needlecrafts, quilting, china painting, basket weaving, gardening and writing poetry. She was a proud resident of the Stevensburg community assisting at the local store where she enjoyed meeting and interacting with the public.
Lela is survived by her children, Patricia Albanese and her husband, Sal of Stevensburg, Jerry Brown and his wife, Judy of Kaw City, OK, Wayne Brown and his wife, Joyce of Stevensburg, and Stephen Brown and his wife, Terri of Culpeper; her grandchildren, Jerry Brown, Jr., Tammie Buckbee, Nick Brown, Derrick Brown, Jason Brown and Stephen Brown; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Jane Brown, Dorothy Lenhart, Betty Webb; her grandson, David Brown; and the father of her children, Eugene Brown.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11 am at Stevensburg Baptist Church, 19393 York Rd., Stevensburg, VA with Rev. Philip Walker officiating and assisted by Rev. Bruce Baxley.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Her grandsons and great grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
