Lawrence Devlin
Lawrence Raymond Larry Devlin, 86, of Locust Grove, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at his residence in the arms of his wife, Mary.
He was born in Concord, New Hampshire.
Larry was a veteran of the US Army, serving in World War II as a captain. He was a legendary CIA officer from 1949-1974, and was also the author of Chief of Station Congo.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Devlin; one daughter, Maureen Reimuller and her husband, David of Great Falls, VA; two grandchildren, Nicholas Reimuller and his wife, Jamie of Reston, VA and Alison Reimuller of Great Falls, VA; one great-granddaughter, Isabelle Colette Reimuller; and two loving stepchildren, Ashley Rountree and his wife, Lorraine of Paris, France; Meredith Rountree Esq. and her husband, Robert Owen Esq. of Austin, Texas and a step grandson Jordan Rountree of Paris, France. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Colette.
A mass of christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 10:30 am at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 1020 Springvale Road, Great Falls, Virginia 22066. Father Alexander Drummond will be officiating. Larry’s family will receive friends at the church hall immediately following the mass. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery at 2:00 pm with military honors.
