Larry Earl Bourne's Obituary
Larry E. Bourne, 68, of White Oak, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Mary Washington Hospital, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born June 5, 1949 at the old Mary Washington Hospital. A lifelong Stafford County resident, He graduated from Stafford High School and worked at Dahlgren’s NSWC until his retirement.
A descendent of the Patawomeck Indian Tribe of Stafford County and a proud Navy veteran of Vietnam having served on the U.S.S. Turner Joy. Larry was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #4123 and frequent visitor of The Rec Center on William Street. He enjoyed playing pool and throwing horseshoes with family and friends.
Survived by his daughter, Crystal M. Bell and her husband, Ed; grandchildren, Ashleigh Bell and Austin Bell; his mother, Elsie Bourne; sisters, Linda Jordan, Amanda Hayes (Bill) and Valerie Carter (Tony); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his faithful, loving canine companions, Rebel and Paco. Larry is also survived by his good friends Leon, Tom, Fuzzy, and Diamond.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl H. Bourne; many special aunts, uncles, and cousins; brother-in-law, Harold Jordan; paternal grandparents, Henry and Gladys Bourne; and maternal grandparents, Arthur and Virgie Carroll.
Larry’s eyes were donated to the Old Dominion Eye Foundation of Richmond, VA in hopes of giving the gift of sight to others.
Special thanks to Mary Washington Hospital’s 2nd and 3rd Floor Nurses, Hospice Nurses and the Hospitalist Physicians who helped provide the care and comfort to Larry during his brave fight.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Larry’s name to the Cancer Fund, Heart Fund or Hospice Care made thru the Eagles #4123 Ladies Auxiliary, Attention: Renee Sullivan, 21 Cool Spring Rd., Fredericksburg, VA 22405-2600.
A viewing will be held at Noon on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel, with the service directly following at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements provided by Found and Sons Funeral Home.
