Kira Ravenwood's Obituary
Ms. Kira Ravenwood, born Dorinda Ann Heberlein, passed away at home with her daughter by her side.
Though it was very unexpected and sudden, she wasn't alone. Born on September 4, 1948 she was the oldest of three children born to Golland & Eileen Heberlein in San Diego, California where she lived the first half of her life. She grew up with a love for horses, cats and reading books. After graduating high school from Herbert Hoover High School she joined the Army and met her first love and started her family of three girls: Erika, Karen "Elle", and Jennifer. She later started a career at Intuit. This career brought her to relocate to Virginia.
Here in Virginia is where Kira was born and she decided to legally change her name. She had lots of online friends from her "Hated Reality" and "Mud" families. Along the way she found the son she never had, Ronnie, and in her heart she adopted him. And she also found love again recently with a lifelong friend, Dave. She had a passion for listening to police scanners; something she shared with her late mother. She loved aviation, thrifting, and estate sales too! Later in life she became a lover of the game "Pokémon GO". She played the game 24/7 and was truly on a mission to "catch 'em all!" Kira lived a life on her own terms and did what made her happy, PERIOD.
A celebration of life and honoring of Kira's love of Pokémon will take place during the next Pokémon GO Community Day on Sunday October 19, 2025 from 1-1:45pm. Meet up to begin at Dixon Park at 1300 Dixon St, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 and visit various Pokéstops along the way. Join her memory online by looking up her usernames "Iirissa" or "B17" on Pokémon GO and help her "catch 'em all"!
Kira is survived by sister Jan Cerasaro, brother Earl and Therese Heberlein (Aaron and Ron -nephews and their families), Daughters Erika and Paul Broyles, Karen "Elle" Boortz (Jessica and Ryan Hood and Christopher and families), and Jennifer Boortz (Shanell), adopted son Ronald Downey, great grandchildren Landon, Tyler and Addison, and boyfriend David Goodpastor and many other extended family members and friends.
