Kim Brookman was born October 16, 1968, in Washington D.C. to James Ward Blaine, who preceded her in death, and Cecilia Marie (Gardner) Blaine.
She happily married her devoted husband, George Irvin Brookman, Jr. on April 27th, 1990, whom she leaves behind as she has gone to rest eternally with the Lord in Heaven. Together, they raised three children who live to carry her memory: Michael Brookman (wife, Rachel), Christina (partner, Carter) Brookman, and Steven Brookman.
As a sister, Kim is survived by two brothers, Wayne Blaine and Richard Blaine (wife, Carly), and one sister, Teresa Blaine.
As “Mimmy,” she leaves behind 6 adoring grandchildren: Cameron, Carson, Carlyn, Caycen, Harvey, and Cohen.
As “Aunt Kimmy,” she leaves behind numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Kim passionately served the community as a paraeducator for Head Start in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania for over 20 years. She dedicated herself to enriching the lives of young children and teaching them to read, write, create, and enjoy learning.
Her hobbies included playing with, snuggling with, and spoiling her grandchildren, listening to music, enjoying her husband’s cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends. Kim and her husband enjoyed spending weekends at “The Rivah” in Urbanna, VA with friends while camping at Beth Page Camp Resort.
Kim’s favorite holiday was Christmas and she always looked forward to decorating her home with Snowmen ornaments and figurines. Her favorite pastime was decorating the home with her kids and grandkids while watching “Frosty the Snowman” or “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
She will be deeply missed by those that have been blessed to know her.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 in the funeral home chapel followed by interment in the Confederate Cemetery in Spotsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kim’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
