Kenneth Frank Fisher Jr.'s Obituary
Kenneth F. Fisher, Jr., 88, of Stafford County died Sunday, April 20, 2025, at home with his children by his side. He grew up in Takoma Park, Maryland, and has many fond memories of his time there with family and friends, working at Youngblood’s Hardware Store, and serving as a deacon at Takoma Park Presbyterian Church.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from June 15, 1955, to June 4, 1957, and spent over 28 years working at Franklin Readers’ Service where he made lifelong friends and many memories on the road as a traveling salesman before becoming manager. He was a jack of all trades and master of many, but particularly enjoyed remodeling old homes, restoring old cars, reading newspapers and books, learning new information, lending a hand to anyone in need, and, of course, talking with family, friends, strangers, and anyone else who let him bend an ear.
He is survived by son, Kenneth F. Fisher III of Stafford County; daughter, Julia E. Ranagan and her husband, Mike, of Spotsylvania County; stepson, Edward M. Payne and his wife, Diana, of Texas; four grandchildren, Raymond, Sarah, Ashleigh, and Heather; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, and Claire; three sisters-in-law, Marge Fisher, Ann Fisher, and Pam Fisher; seven nieces and nephews; and eleven great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty S. Fisher; parents, Stella E. and Kenneth F. Fisher, Sr.; and brothers, Richard T. Fisher, Sr., James A. Fisher, Sr., and David E. Fisher, Sr.
His family would like to thank the professional and caring staff of Affinity Hospice for making his last five months as comfortable as possible.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Fredericksburg, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 5, 2025, in the funeral home chapel. A graveside ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:30 PM at the Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions in Kenneth’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association online at www.alz.org or by mail to PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
