Kathleen S. Haigler's Obituary
Kathleen S. Haigler, 93, of Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2020 at her home.
She was born in Salisbury, Maryland to Arley and Alice Shockley. Her parents owned and operated a wallpaper and paint store, where she spent much time growing up.
Kathleen briefly attended college, where she met her future husband, Leon. Her husband was a geologist, so they started their married life in New Mexico.
Kathlen spent most of her adult life taking care of her family. Together, they enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and camping. The family eventually moved back to Virginia, and after retirement, Kathleen and Leon settled in Fredericksburg. They were longtime members at Peace United Methodist Church. During her later years, Kathleen was active in her community at Cardinal Village. Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her family and she was a loving grandmother.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Karen Oliva, and her husband, Lawerence, Donald Haigler, and his wife, Barb, and David Haigler; seven grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, and her brother, James Shockley.
Kathleen’s family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road in Fredericksburg. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
