Katherine Isabelle Cawthron's Obituary
Katherine I. Cawthron, age 84, of Manassas, VA, went home to be with her Lord while surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 19, 2012.
She was born in Chelmsford, MA on January 22, 1928 to the late Frank Vennard and Theresa Bell. On Sept. 29, 1951 she married her beloved husband John C. Cawthron, Jr. During their life together they lived in many places due to John’s military service. They came to Manassas in 1968 and she went to work for the Prince William County Courts. Katherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her love for gardening and entertaining guests. Katherine was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Wives Of Retired Officers.
She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Frank Vennard, Theresa McCall, Thomas Vennard, Betty Sleeper and Joan Cornell.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, John C. Cawthron, Jr., MAJ. USMC RET.; three children, John C. Cawthron, III and wife Sally, Steve W. Cawthron and wife Donna, Marjorie Young and husband Tony; two sister-in-laws, Margaret Berg and Rena Doherty; a brother-in-law, David Cawthron; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Thursday, March 1st at the Found & Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Rd. Manassas, VA 20109, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM the following day. Burial will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
