Karen Sue Vala's Obituary
Karen Sue Vala, age 64, of Ellicott City, MD, formerly of Manassas, VA, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
She was born in Ellicott City on April 28, 1947. Karen Sue attended the Corcoran College of Art & Design to pursue her love of painting and crafts. She worked as a Social Worker for the Prince William County Agency on Aging until her retirement in 1991. After retirement she shared her love for art by volunteer teaching at area churches. In 2002 she relocated to Ellicott City and was a former member of the Gainesville United Methodist Church. She was a loving a devoted mother who always placed her family above all else.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Vala and wife Heidi, Thomas Vala and wife Nadya; her mother, Winifred Hodges; four siblings, John Hodges, Anna Nay, Kim Swift and Scott Hodges.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Hodges.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2001 at 1:00 PM at Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel.
