Karen Ann Owens' Obituary
Karen Ann (Jones) Owens, 77, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at her home in Fredericksburg, VA after a brief illness.
She was born on March 17, 1949, in Detroit, MI (during a fierce snowstorm as she always said) to the late Neumon Brown and Margaret Florine (Leggott) Jones.
Karen is survived by her children, Denise and her husband, Derek Avery-Craft, and Jennifer and her husband, Rich Aldridge; six grandchildren, Michael Owens Jr., Ryan Avery-Craft, Brandon and Lauren Aldridge, and Zachary and Nicholas Owens; two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Camari Avery-Craft; her sister, Marilyn and her husband, Brian Wilson; her brother, Gerald and his wife, Barbara Jones; and many cherished nieces, nephews, godson, and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ernest Owens, and her son, Michael William Owens.
Karen worked for the U.S. Department of the Army, Civilian Personnel Systems, as a Computer Programmer Analyst (Oracle DBA) for almost 30 years before retiring in 2012. She lived in Dale City for 23 years before moving to Fredericksburg in 2002 and was a long-time member of All Saints’ Church.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved to play with and spoil them! She enjoyed watching television and movies, reading, scrapbooking, and was an avid genealogist.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2026 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA. A funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Father Scott Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, VA.
