Karen Lynn Berry's Obituary
Karen L. Berry, 53, of Portsmouth, VA died unexpectedly January 30, 2023, at home. She was born May 26, 1969, in Arlington, VA, the daughter of the late Samuel G. Savage and Patsy M. Nine.
Karen attended McLean high school. She met her first husband Barry Horton, had her two children Christopher and Brandy and moved to Winchester, VA where she resided for many years. After separating from her first marriage Karen eventually met her soulmate Mike and moved to many different places staying by his side through his U.S Navy career, eventually relocating to Kansas City, MO where she fell in love with her Kansas City Royals. Baseball and racing were her two favorite pass times. In 2018 she moved back to Portsmouth VA, to be closer to her family.
She was a loving wife, mother, stepmother, sister, nana, aunt, and friend to many. She truly enjoyed all things in life. She often talked to her daughter about her love for the beach and how one day they would retire there together and live the simple life. She cherished her husband, her pup Rocky, her children and most of all her grandbabies who brought her so much joy. Karen was known for her kindness, her ability to make friends with anyone she’d met and her favorite saying “bite me” if she didn’t agree with something you said. Karen will be missed greatly by so many.
