Judith Dianne Graham's Obituary
Judith Dianne Graham, 83, of Lignum, VA, went to be with God on December 24, 2023, after an extended illness from Alzheimer’s. She passed at home with her family. She was born Judith Dianne Marquette to John and Rose Marquette, on March 22, 1940, in Harrisburg, PA.
Dianne, as she was called, spent her early childhood and adolescent years in Harrisburg; she got her first job as a soda jerk, and she recalled fond memories of that experience. In 1960, the Marquette family moved to Westminster, MD, and took up residence on Ridge Rd, later moving to Green St. Dianne attended Millersville University for a brief time before having her first child, Taryn, who was born out of wedlock and given up for adoption. This weighed heavily on Dianne her whole life, and while Taryn’s birth wasn’t widely known we know Dianne would have wanted her acknowledged here. Dianne worked as a teacher and later was the children’s librarian at Westminster’s public library.
Dianne married James M. Graham, III on August 24, 1966, and shortly after marriage left Maryland for North Dakota. They spent the next 4 years on Minot Air Force Base, during which time they had 3 children: James M. Graham, IV, Heather Lea Graham, and John Marquette Graham.
The family returned to Maryland in 1971, where they purchased their first home in New Windsor, MD. They then moved to Murkle Rd. in 1978 for a year before moving into a home on Turkeyfoot Rd. where they resided till 2020, when they sold their house and moved to Virginia to be closer to their daughter and most of their grandchildren. It was during this time that the effects of Alzheimer’s became apparent.
Dianne’s faith and the Bible were very important to her. She spent much of her time studying the Word of God. Even to the end she still knew the promise of salvation through Christ and looked forward to a new body without flaws. While she will be grieved in body, we know her soul is secured in Christ and that promise gives us the hope to persevere.
Dianne is survived by her sister, Andrea; her son, James and his wife, Cindy; her daughter, Heather and son-in-law, Chuck; as well as 9 grandchildren, James M. Graham, V, Daniel, Amylea, Elizabeth, Wesley, Sarah, John, Abigail, and Timothy; and 10 great grandchildren Annabelle, Teddy, Jennie, Miriam, Ada, Rodney, Winston, Livy, Charlotte, and Savannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, John.
