Joyce Ann Brown Hicks' Obituary
Joyce Ann Brown Hicks, 70, of Culpeper went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at her residence with her daughters by her side. She was born January 25, 1938 in Hillsboro, VA to the late John Silas Brown and Laura Ruth Woodward Brown.
Mrs. Hicks loved her Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church. She had a passion for raising her foster children, babysitting and caring for her neighbors who were ill.
She is survived by four children, Debbie Gillis and her husband, Grady of South Carolina, Donna Compton and her husband, Lewis of Rixeyville, Tim Hicks and his wife, Cindy of Arizona, Michael Hicks and his wife, Jennifer of Colorado, one brother, Larry Brown of Colonial Heights, and one sister, Diana Parks of Leesburg.
Additional survivors include eight grandchildren, Melissa Young, Amanda Gillis, Shawn Compton, Dawn Harding, Kevin Hicks, Kodey Hicks, Brandon Hicks, and Abigail Hicks, and three great grandchildren, Isaiah, Belle, and Jonah Harding.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Hicks, one brother, John S. Brown, Jr., and one grandson, Jacob T. Compton.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Pastor Charles Shifflett and her son Tim Hicks officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Compton, Jacob Harding, Joey Brown, Jerry Brown, Lewis Compton, Jr. and David Jenkins
