Joyce Ann Starkes' Obituary
Joyce Ann Starkes, 58, of Culpeper died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born February 27, 1959 in Charlottesville to Dora Puller Starkes and the late James Edward Starkes.
Joyce was a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church. She worked for the Culpeper County School System for 27 years and was the longest employee of over 30 years at the Stop In food store.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by five siblings, Ruth Thomas of Culpeper, Lorraine Starkes of Washington, DC, Carolyn Minor and her husband, Rocky of Culpeper, Roy Starkes and his wife, Betty of Culpeper, and James Starkes and his wife, Lisa of Culpeper; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Jean Banks; and one brother-in-law, William Thomas.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Baptist Church, 19075 York Rd., Stevensburg, VA with Rev. Derrick J. Mathis, Sr. officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
