Joyce Ann Pollard's Obituary
Joyce Ann Pollard was the daughter of the late Walter L. and MaryLou Broadus Pollard. She was born on July 17, 1954. She transitioned to her heavenly home on July 8, 2020 at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center in Culpeper, VA after a short battle with neuroendocrine lung cancer.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two brothers, Ronald Lynn Pollard and Wayne Nathaniel Pollard (Jeceita); two sisters, Sharon Mack (Harry) and Vivian Pollard; nephew, Gregory Pollard, who was like a son to her; three sisters-in-law, Estelle, Linda and Barbara Pollard, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Pollard; three brothers: MacArthur “Butch,” Eric “Ricky,” and Danny Pollard.
After graduating from Culpeper County High School, Joyce began working as a library assistant at Culpeper County Middle School before securing her career job at Continental Teves where she worked for almost 38 years.
Joyce loved the Lord and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lignum, VA early in her youth. She later became active in many capacities within the church: the choir, usher board, hospitality ministry, missionary ministry, women’s ministry, Sunday School and Bible Study. She especially enjoyed ushering and singing in the choir until her health declined.
Joyce was not a big fan of animals and disliked bugs of any kind, but she loved taking care of people. You could always depend on her. If you needed help, she was there for you, even if you did not ask. She had a giving and caring heart, always willing to share whatever she had. She was a caregiver to many siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She also loved traveling, eating a variety of potato dishes, seafood and steak, and communicating with her Facebook friends. Loyal to the end, Joyce was a passionate Redskins fan. Being very family-oriented, Joyce always encouraged family get-togethers, and was noted for trying to capture every person in attendance with an instant camera, and later, her ever-present cell phone.
Joyce was a woman of strong faith, and she trusted the Lord throughout all her trials.
