Dear Family--My sister Sandy Austin worked with Joy for several years in some color work, and as a result of that work, Sandy published a book entitled Color In Garden Design with photographs by my father, John Attinello. My sister, my father, and I all took a color class out at her studio--a very memorable time for each of us and we all learned so much in our own areas of work: my father was an aeronautical engineer and a fine photographer, and printed his own color photos so found the class so valuable. Obviously my sister used Joy's class on top of what they had already shared together, working on various projects. I studied fine arts, painting & printmaking --Joy's class was better than any color information I learned in my BFA, MFA and Diploma courses. I was very sad indeed to discover that Joy has died but please know how much she touched our lives and how much we valued her.
