Joy Jenkins' Obituary
Joy Jenkins, 90, of Culpeper died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 20, 1924 in Leesburg to the late Charles and Mary McDoungh Tavenner.
Joy served the Lord as a faithful Christian for more than 80 years. She and her late husband, Rev. Tom Jenkins, were evangelists for more than 10 years and pastored the Leesburg Church of God for ten more.
She is survived by two children, Darlene Temple and her husband, Jim of Culpeper and Connie Johnson and her husband, Mike of Seymour, TN; one sister, Bonnie Thomas of Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren, Melissa McGlothlin, Jay, Tom, Ben, Mike and Matthew Temple, Michelle Johnson, Niki Dartt and Jonathan Nuckles; and twenty four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and her daughter, Ann Nuckles.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, with Rev. Jay Temple officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will take place on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11 am at Culpeper National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Ben Temple, Mike Temple, Matt Temple, Jimmy D. Temple, Philip Temple, Jonathan Nuckles and Jason McGlothlin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Advancing Native Missions, PO Box 5303, Charlottesville, VA 22905.
