Josephine Silver's Obituary
Josephine Bernadette Woods Silver, 84, of Fredericksburg passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at her home.
Josephine was born September 18, 1925 in Chester, England to the late Charles and Anne Woods. Mrs. Silver was the first war bride to return to Fredericksburg after meeting her husband, Rupert Silver, during the height of World War II.
Rupert brought back his wife and first baby to Fredericksburg in 1947. Josephine’s life was the love for her husband and her family. She was known for her beautiful singing voice and had been a member of the St. Mary’s Choir.
Mrs. Silver is survived by her ten children, Sandra Silver-Torres of Haymarket, Janet Silver Newton of Fredericksburg, Karen Silver Stem of Colorado, Terry Silver Falvey, Donna Silver Sullivan, Kevin “Rusty” Wade Silver all of Fredericksburg, Anne Silver Donald of Partlow, Maureen Monica Silver, Andrea Silver Shelton, and Suzi Silver Hardesty, all of Fredericksburg.
Josephine is also survived by 22 loving grandchildren; 13 adoring great grandchildren, and seven son-in-laws. She is also survived by nine brothers and sisters.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Korpi officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
