Joseph Aloysious Watson II's Obituary
Joseph Aloysious Watson, II, 66, of Richardsville, VA passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at his home. He was born January 24, 1958 to the late Joseph Aloysious Watson and Elaine Resha Bagg in Tennessee.
Joe served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977-1981. He then began a 25-year-long career with Alexandria Police Department retiring in 2006. After his retirement, he served as a Captain at the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office from 2008-2012. He was a member at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, VA. Joe was also a two-time Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. Joe, in his downtime, could be found in the great outdoors as he was an avid hunter and angler.
Joe and his wife, Karen dated in Prince George’s County, Maryland when they were in their mid-teens and 45 years later found each other again. His love of faith, family, and community was unrivaled.
Joe is survived by his wife, Karen Kurtz Watson; his sons, Steven Watson and his wife, Jacquelyn, and Christopher Watson; his stepdaughters, Christin Harvey and Shelby Hunsaker; stepson, Jared Brumfield; sister, Nancy Hoffmaster, and husband, David; aunt, Sylvia Resha; godmother, Clara Smith; grandchildren, Emily Watson, William Watson, Alexis Harvey, Madison Harvey, and Abigail Harvey.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 9149 Elys Ford Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407, with Fr. Schierer officiating.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA 22701.
A reception will follow the interment at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe's memory to the Knights of Columbus Battlefield # 10246, 9149 Elys Ford Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
