In the short period of time I knew Joe I was always amazed at his kindness and insight. I watched his joy with his grand kids, when he gave me golf pointers and saw the heartfelt pride he had when Sonnie graduated in those last days. I believe that through his life he was revered as a thoughtful person who always did his best to make those around him happy. I feel fortunate to have met Joe and to have been able to call him dad. I was so very sorry to about Joe. He was with the family a few days before he passed on. Joe came to Virginia Beach to see his only child, Sonnie recieve her masters degree of which he he was very proud. Joe and I shared a blessing together and that was our daughter Sonnie and later grandchildren who we both love very much. Joe will be missed by many people and I am one of the many. Sandra Deane
My father will be missed greatly by my family and myself. He was a very good man, and I feel great sorrow at this time because he is now not in my life. Every so often I think I need to call him but quickly remember he is gone. I feel his presence still. I know though he is in a better place and I will remember him and pass on his wonderful memory to my children that will unfortunately only get to hear about their grandfather. I love you dad.

Joe was a good man and will be missed by all who knew him. Joe had a great personality and always made you feel welcome in his home. I spent many hours at his house visiting with him and my sister Sharon. Joe loved to garden and gave away more vegetables than he kept driving into town to deliver to family and friends. Joe has now been welcomed by his heavenly family and friends. His memories will be a constant reminded if what a great man he was.
