Joseph Berry Burnette's Obituary
Joseph Berry Burnette, 77, of Fredericksburg, born October 6, 1938, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
When Joe was diagnosed with a rare muscle condition at the age of 15, he prayed to God: “If you will heal me, I will do something for you someday” Mr. Burnette was a teacher in Fairfax County for 29 years. Towards the end of his teaching career, Mr. Burnette made good on his promise to God by becoming a Methodist Minister. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Joe was an avid fan of the Washington Nationals and the Washington Redskins. Despite Joe’s physical handicap, some of his favorite things to do were fixing cars, listening to bluegrass music, taking road trips, going to the beach, gardening, his animals, and of course spending time with his family, and his faith in God.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Norma Jean; three children, Melisa (Albert), Ronald (Julie), and Wendy (Andrew); sister, Peggy (Roy); grandchildren, Natalie, Bethany, Coleman, and Nathan; and a host of loving friends.
Joseph’s family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 in Mt. Comfort Cemetery.
