John Richard Deal's Obituary
John Richard Deal, born in Culpeper County, Virginia on January 9, 1947, died peacefully at his residence in Oak Grove, Virginia on Tuesday, September 4, 2007.
Richard worked for almost 30 years with Williams Gas Pipeline in Unionville, Virginia as well as on assignments throughout the United States and overseas as a pipeline technician and inspector. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandparent who was adored by his grandchildren. Richard loved sports and was a four-star varsity athlete in high school, an avid University of Virginia sports fan, and a golfer who spent many days on the greens with his friends. He loved the water, enjoying time he spent on his boat and at the beach off the Potomac River with his friends and family. Richard was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Subrena Breeden, and partner Mike Jenkins; daughter Christina Earles, and husband Andrew; four grandsons and two great-grandchildren; mother, Frances Deal; and brother, Otis C. Deal, Jr., his family.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Otis C. Deal, Sr.
Visitation will be held at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels in Culpeper on Friday, September 7, 2007, from 6:00 p. m until 8:00 p.m, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.
Funeral Services will be held the following day, Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Found and Sons at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers are Marshall Carter III, John Dynda, Wayne Ellzey, David Hunt, Johnny Rothgeb, and Lowell Tharpe.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Blevins, Alvin Jenkins, and Ronnie Johnson.
Memorial donations may be made to H. O. P. E. (Cancer Center) in Charlottesville, Virginia, where Richard benefited from their compassion and care during his long struggle. Contributions could also be made to the American Cancer Society.
