John Benjamin Singleton, Jr.'s Obituary
John Benjamin Singleton, Jr., 48, of Castleton died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at his residence after an 18 year battle with ALS. He was born April 26, 1961 in Arlington, VA to John Benjamin Singleton, Sr. and Joanne Cagle Singleton.
John was a member of the ALS and MDA Associations. He was an inspiration to many people worldwide who were also battling the disease. John spent countless hours counseling and comforting other ALS patients and their families giving them hope and inspiration. He enjoyed camping and fishing and was an avid Dale Earnhardt and Redskins fan.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Misty Dawn Singleton of Culpeper and John Benjamin Singleton, III of Castleton, two sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Lee Settle and her husband, Steve Sr. of Culpeper, Dawn Marie Halterman and her husband, John of Woodstock and one brother, Daniel “Danny” Singleton and his wife, Patty of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include one grandchild, Kaydence Noelle Pina, and his nieces and nephews, Steve Settle, Jr., Amanda “Mandy” Settle, Krissy Singleton, Alexis Halterman and Jacob Halterman.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009 at 6 p.m. at Gourdvine Baptist Church, 7103 Eggbornsville Rd., Culpeper with Pastor Rick Pendleton officiating.
