John Thomas Thorpe Sr.'s Obituary
John Thomas Thorpe, Sr. 79, of Culpeper died Friday, May 13, 2011 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was born May 29, 1931 in Culpeper to the late Clyde and Mamie Thorpe.
John drove a school bus for Culpeper County for twenty-seven years. He also worked as a carpenter and in landscaping. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by two sons, Gene Thorpe and his wife, Janice, of Lignum, and John Thorpe, Jr. and his wife, Marri Beth, of Spotsylvania. He is also survived by three daughters, Bonnie Beeler and her husband, Bruce, of Culpeper, Rose Foushee and her husband, Steve, of Culpeper, and Barbara Thorpe of Waynesboro.
Additional survivors include twelve grandchildren Todd, Angel, Steven, Bruce Jr., Jonathan, Stephanie, Chrissy, Darius, Marcus, Christina, Kelsie and Joseph, and five great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by six siblings, Mamie, Gladys, Margaret, Willie, Clarence and Annie.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jason Foushee and Charles Foushee, Jr. and seven siblings.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, 2011 from 7 to 9 P.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Found and Sons chapel with Pastor Lee Brown and Pastor Bruce Fincham officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
