John W. Thomas' Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of John W. Thomas, Jr., of Fredericksburg, VA. John passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the age of 91.
He will be missed by his loving wife, family and friends.
John retired from the military after serving 20 years in the U.S. Army. He loved and respected his country and the American flag. After leaving the Army he became a contractor and a business person. Him and his wife loved to travel all over the world. In later years, he loved watching old westerns and getting together with family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara D. Thomas; stepson, Jeffery Hall (Debbie); four grandsons, Stuart Hall, Daryl Hall (Brianna), Daniel Hall, and Adam Hall; great-grandson, Carter Gregory Hall; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Lelia and John Thomas, Sr.; four sisters, Julia Whitley, Violet Howdershelt, Lillian Sullivan, and Elizabeth Vepperman; and stepson, Gregory Hall.
John’s family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2022 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, John’s family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Eastland United Methodist Church, 10718 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
