John Willie Redmond's Obituary
John Wille Redmond, 82, of Fredericksburg, VA was born on December 24, 1937 in Montross, Virginia.
His parents, Josephine Elizabeth Ashton and Burney Elton Ashton, preceded him to eternity. He peacefully departed this life on, June 10, 2020, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He married Edith J. Burton in 1966. John, Edith and family moved to Roxbury, Massachusetts, where John worked as a property manager, at Hunneman Corporation and retired from Druker Company, after 25 years of service, at the age of 65.
He joined the church at an early age and attended Dunbar High School, in Washington, DC. After John retired, he was dedicated to helping others. All the neighborhood kids knew Mr. Redmond, as a person that helped them obtain employment, and others often reached out to him to assist in automotive maintenance. He was a strong supporter of family members.
Mr. Redmond is survived by his wife of 54 years, Edith J. Redmond; daughters, Jacqueline Redmond of Temple Hills, MD, and Juannetta Redmond DaCruz (Joseph F.) of White Marsh, MD; sons, John Willie Redmond (Cynthia) of Fredericksburg, VA, Lawrence A. Johnson of Hague, VA, and John Wesley Chandler of Bowie, MD; sister, Audrey R. Hall (James R.) of Washington, DC; brother, Burney E. Ashton (preceded him in death); 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four godchildren; two sister in laws, Emma L. Bell (Roland), and Leona Raiford (Bernette P.); brother in laws, Leroy D. Burton, Walter R. Burton, and Willie B. Burton.
John leaves a host of other family members, loved ones and friends to cherish his memory.
A viewing of John W. Redmond, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 regulations, a mask will be required to enter the funeral home. A private celebration of John’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd. Fredericksburg, VA. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
An outdoor reception will be held immediately following the service at: 1012 Austin Drive, Fredericksburg, VA.
