John Michael Pichurko's Obituary
John Michael Pichurko was born December 14, 1928, at 114 East 7th Street, New York, NY to immigrant parents, John and Warawara (Barbara) Pichurko. He passed away on June 15, 2024, in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
John graduated from Seward Park High School in New York City in 1947. John was a proud veteran. He joined the US Army on September 13, 1948, and served until September of 1951 at Fort Dix, New Jersey as a Stock Clerk. He married Carole Barbara Goldberg on October 14, 1950, and remained happily married for 66 years until her passing at the age of 85 in April 2016.
John had a long career, as a professional firefighter, drove a taxi for the Yellow Cab Company, and then went into real estate with Mount Vernon Realty and achieved member of the Million Dollar Club status. He was a member of the Edward H. Cann Masonic Lodge of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
John and Carole retired to Georgetown, S.C., and then to Lake of the Woods, Orange, Virginia. John was an avid reader; he particularly loved John Grisham novels. John was very athletic throughout his whole life, taking long daily walks as long as he could. He played basketball in high school and never met anyone who could beat him at ping pong. John was an avid Washington Redskins fan and surrounded himself with memorabilia. He was extremely outgoing; he always met and made an impression on everyone in the room. John will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by three children, son, Paul T. Pichurko, and two daughters, Jill C. Andrews and Vivian B. Simms, six grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Interment is being arranged at Quantico National Cemetery and condolences can be conveyed at foundandsons.com.
