Rev. John Lloyd Miller Jr.'s Obituary
Rev. John L. Miller, Jr., 76, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Culpeper died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma. He was born August 11, 1934 in Washington, D.C. to the late John L. Miller, Sr. and Orie Edwards Miller.
Rev. Miller was a veteran of the US Marine Corp and served during the Korean War. He was the owner of Virginia Commonwealth Lumber Co, a long standing lumber business in Culpeper and was the former pastor of Orange Assembly of God Church in Orange and Gourdvine Baptist Church in Rixeyville. Rev. Miller was also a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Culpeper, Culpeper Assembly of God Church and most recently The Cathedral in Oklahoma City, OK. He traveled extensively throughout the US and various nations of the world, both as a tourist and in mission’s opportunities. He was a “true friend and pastor” to so many and deeply loved his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Deal Miller, his son, Tony Miller and his wife, Kathy, three grandchildren, Amanda Conner and her husband, Jason, Lindsey Miller and Holly Miller, three great grandchildren, Brookelyn, Caden and Talia, and his siblings, Christine Phorr, Betty Ayers and Samuel Miller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Allene Sullivan.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Gourdvine Baptist Church, 7103 Eggbornsville Rd., Culpeper, with Bishop J. Anthony Miller officiating.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
