John Joseph Michaliga Jr.'s Obituary
John Joseph Michaliga, Jr., 99, of Stafford County passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born February 9, 1911 in Caroline County to the late John J. and Teresa Michaliga.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Anne Treblic Michaliga in 2000, by his grandson, Robert Supina in 1987; his sisters, Mary Aversa, Ann Bolecek, Teresa Kuchinski, Christine Mihal, Virginia Osefchen and his brother, Michael Michaliga.
John is survived by his daughters, Joyce L. Supina of Houston, TX and Patricia McCary of Ferry Farms; his sister, Josephine Fialho of Fort Worth, TX; three grandchildren, Lauren Farber and her husband, Mike of Washington, D.C., Andrea Basinski and her husband, Patrick of Austin, TX and Karen Alderman and her husband, Mark of Winchester and five great grandchildren.
He spent his early adulthood in New Jersey and worked in New York City. He worked at various restaurants and was a public service bus driver. He loved people and made friends everywhere he went. After his marriage to Anne, he returned to Spotsylvania County and was employed at FMC for 32 years and also farmed.
John was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fredericksburg for 40 years and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a church usher for 15 years.
John’s family will receive friends Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 7:00 – 9:00pm with a rosary being said at 7:30pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 20, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1009 Stafford Avenue, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
