John McGrath's Obituary
John Howard McGrath, 75, lost his battle with cancer August 12, 2008 at home in Shallotte, NC. Born March 20, 1933 in Springfield, MA he was the son of the late John P. and Elizabeth H. McGrath.
A veteran of the US Army he retired as a Civil Servant for the Department of the Navy to North Carolina where he was an avid golfer and active in the community. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Alice Gallagher McGrath; son, John Michael McGrath and his wife, Kathy of Union Mills, NC; daughters, Kathleen Adams and her husband, Thomas of Southlake, TX; Rosemary Johnson and her husband, Steve of Haymarket, VA; Elizabeth Keen and her husband, Andrew of Ijamsville, MD and Theresa McGrath of Chantilly, VA; brother, L. Neil “Doc” McGrath and wife Nancy of Westfield, MA; four grandchildren, Tommy Adams, Emily Keen, Michael Keen, and Hayden Sidley.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 6-8 pm at Found and Sons Lee Funeral Chapel, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA. A Catholic mass will be held Friday, August 23, 2008 at 10 am at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, 13807 Poplar Tree Road, Chantilly, VA followed by interment at 12 noon at Quantico National Cemetery.
