John Thomas Massey Jr.'s Obituary
John Thomas (JT) Massey, Jr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
JT was born on August 6, 1946 in Washington D.C. He was an only child to John Thomas and Maria Margaret Brecar Massey of Alexandria, Virginia. Both of whom preceded him in death. He attended St. Johns College High School in Washington D.C.
JT loved the USA and was a proud military veteran. He served two years in the U.S. Naval Reserves while obtaining a Bachelor of Commercial Science degree from Benjamin Franklin University. In addition, he served two years active duty in the U.S. Army. In August, 2001, he retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after 32 years of dedicated service as a Fingerprint Specialist. He continued in the service of the country by performing Fingerprint Specialist support for multiple Federal Contractors which included the past 10 years with BAE Systems.
JT was a dedicated fan of all Washington's sports teams and an avid collector of comic books and sports paraphernalia. He loved traveling with friends and family, country music, horse racing, golf, fishing, all lake activities and Disney world with the grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Annis Lynn Massey; his daughter, Stephanie Marie Garrett and husband, David Richard of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his son, Michael Scott Massey and his wife, Sally Streater of Ashburn, Virginia; and four grandchildren: Madison Shaye and Dawson Reed Garrett; Aaron Jacob and Noah James Massey. He was loved deeply and will truly be missed.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel. A private burial service for the family will be held at Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
