John Davis Leary's Obituary
John Davis Leary 82, of Rapidan, Virginia, passed away on October 1, 2024, at his home after his battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty M. Leary; his brother, SG Leary, and wife, Pat; his son, John Davis Leary, Jr., and wife, Tricia; his daughter, Leigh Ann Leary, and husband, Warren Hawkins; his son-in-law, Edward Bourne; his four grandchildren, Ryan Powell, and wife, Sarah, Rachel Leary, Justin Leary, and Shane Leary; his great-granddaughter, Reagan Powell; his nephew, William Leary; and his beloved dog, Millie.
He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Gordon Leary, Sr.; his mother, Katherine Frances McCandless Leary; and his beloved daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Leary.
Above all, John treasured his family and his beautiful Claremont Farm in Rapidan. He was a devoted husband, loving and supportive father, and grandfather, and was so excited recently to become a first-time great-grandfather. He was proud of his service in the Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, as well as his service as a Lifetime Member of both Coles Volunteer Fire Department in Manassas and at Rapidan Volunteer Fire Department. He had a lifetime love of horses and enjoyed many seasons of fox hunting with Rappahannock Hunt.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Found & Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
