John Lewis Jewell's Obituary
John Lewis Jewell, 88, of Orange, VA, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, while being cared for in his home. He was born September 2, 1933 in Boone County, GA to the late Oline Stroud Jewell from Soperton, GA and Fred Jewell of Lyons, GA.
John was retired from United States Army/Air Force in 1972, and worked as the Lieutenant of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, where he also retired after 20 years of service. He is survived by three sons: Robert, John and Steven Jewell, Linda Jewell (John’s much loved caregiver and daughter in law) and his daughter Margaret Bradford. Additional survivors include four sisters: Barbara Lowe, Mary Kicklighter, Martha Byous, and Kathy Naranjo; two brothers: Freddy and Ben Jewell. Additional survivors include many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Fred and Oline Jewell, John is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Jewell, Terry Jewell (his son), five brothers: Robert, Kurt, James, Billy, and Jerry Jewell; five sisters: Frances Rodriguez, Betty Painter, Elizabeth Jewell, Linda Jewell, and Theresa Jewell.
A memorial service for John Lewis Jewell, will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Salem Baptist Church or Reformation Lutheran Church, both located in Culpeper.
