John Lawrence Harris' Obituary
John Lawrence Harris, age 77, entered into the presence of Jesus on Friday, January 31 at home in Richardsville, VA. John was born on November 7, 1947, in Clarksburg, WV to Paul Merle Harris and Margaret Lucille Harris (Jackson).
John was proud to have served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. He retired after working many years as a budget analyst for the Federal Aviation Administration.
His life was devoted to loving his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He treasured each moment he spent with family, which were the highlights of each day. Second only to his love for family was his passion for watching the Washington Redskins football games.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Janice Caroline Harris (Rillon) his wife of 42 years; his parents; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim Short and husband, Tim of Richardsville; son, Keith Watson of Alexandria, VA; and daughter, Kay Watson of Prince Georges County, MD; grandchildren, Jessica Miller and husband Vince, Darrell Short and wife Kimberly, and Andrew Short and wife Adriana; great-grandchildren, Aiden Clark, Kaylee Clark, Clint Miller, Logan Short, Peyton Clark, Grace Clark, Laila Short, Annabelle Miller, and Jordan Short; sisters, Constance Asher and Dee Koerper; and brother, Tom Harris.
John’s family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel-Cremation Service, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg, VA, where the funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Richardsville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., 29361 Eleys Ford Road, Richardsville, VA 22736 or to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 83, Culpeper, VA 22701.
