John Grusha's Obituary
John Grusha, 92, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Poet’s Walk in Fredericksburg. He was born on July 7, 1930 to the late Anastasia Kishco Grusha and Ivan Grusha.
John was a graduate of Romney High School in Romney, WV. He married Wilda Whetzel from Cumberland, MD on February 24, 1951. He served in the Korean War from February 1952 to December 1953. Following his military service, he enrolled at Indiana Technical College in Fort Wayne, IN. He completed his engineering degree in 1956.
Following graduation, he relocated to Philipsburg, PA to accept an engineering position with Curtis-Wright Corp. In 1962, he again relocated to Northern Virginia when he accepted a position with the Department of the Navy. He ultimately retired from NAVAIR in September 1993 and moved to Fredericksburg the following spring.
For hobbies, John enjoyed photography and doing his own carpentry work.
John is survived by his daughter, Donna Grusha; his son, John M. Grusha and his wife, Laurie Grusha; his grandson, Quinten Grusha; his sister-in-law, Joan Grusha; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda; two brothers; and one sister-in-law, Wladimir (Larry) Grusha, Audrey Grusha and Nicholas Grusha.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
