John Joseph Groth's Obituary
John Joseph Groth of Lee’s Hill, Fredericksburg, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. He was 85.
John was born on June 30, 1925 in Hoboken, New Jersey to Theresa Anne Groth and William Groth.
John joined the Army at the age of 17 and served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was in a German Prisoner of War Camp and a decorated War Veteran. John met his future wife, Herta, while serving during the Occupation in Germany. They were married in 1949.
John retired in 1982 after 37 years of Federal service, the last 12 of which were with the Immigration and Naturalization Service. John and Herta were married for 53 years when Herta passed away in 2002.
He is survived by his three children, John and Steven of Fredericksburg, VA and June Cohen of Las Vegas, NV.
