John Edward Embrey, Jr.'s Obituary
John Edward Embrey, Jr., 80, passed peacefully into Heaven on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. He was born May 7, 1938 in Washington D.C. to the late Evelyn Marie and John Edward Embrey, Sr.
John served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, joining right out of school. He was a man of many talents, working as a communications tower installer, apartment complex maintenance superintendent, motorcycle mechanic, restaurant manager/chef/bartender and was a maintenance technician with Continental Teves when he retired. He then went to work for Lowe’s part-time, where he worked in the hardware area, and was known for being able to answer just about any question. John was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Precious Blood Catholic Church. He enjoyed airplanes, motorcycles, cooking, and Native American and Southwest art. He loved his family dearly, and was proud of their accomplishments.
He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Embrey Lemmonds and her husband, Scott of Culpeper; his grandchildren, Jessika Warner, Kelsey Glascock, Matthew Glascock, Stephanie Richards and her husband, PJ, Clay Warner, and Garrett Lemmonds all of Culpeper; two great grandchildren, King Simpson, and Katterina Richards; brothers, Robert Embrey and his wife, Anne of Bellevue, NE, Francis Embrey of Norfolk, VA, Arthur Embrey and his wife, Chris of Bristow, VA, George Embrey and his wife, Kim of Bellevue, NE, Kenneth Embrey and his wife, Kathy of Oakton, VA, Lee Embrey of Glen Burnie, MD, and Richard Embrey and his wife, Laura of Columbia, MD; one special nephew, Rob Dewald of Culpeper, VA; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
In addition to John’s parents, he is preceded in death by his former spouse, Betty Embrey; daughter, Sherri Warner; and a sister, Carol Dewald.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA. Military honors will be provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
