John Bernard Downey's Obituary
John Bernard Downey, 78, of Culpeper, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 23, 1946 to the late John Edward and Lucille Downey in Washington D.C.
John was a food connoisseur. He would be found in his down time fishing. John was an artist at heart and loved to paint.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia Downey; children, Christopher Ryan Downey and Theresa Erin Jenkins; grandchildren, Ethan Adam Jenkins, Gavin Mitchell Jenkins, Jackson Lane Helbert; brother, James Downey; sister in law, Patricia Downey; his beloved Milton, the beagle; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Chapin Downey and brother, Patrick Downey.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
