John Marshall Dodson's Obituary
John Marshall Dodson, 89, of Sperryville, VA, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Culpeper Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born December 7, 1935, to the late John S. Dodson and Pearl Atkins Dodson in Sperryville.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he was a dedicated pilot. He was an active member of American Legion Post 330 and a committed Mason with his local lodge. He loved the outdoors, especially tending to his cattle and working with his tractors. The holidays, especially Christmas, were his favorite time of year, and he cherished every moment spent with his family.
John is survived by his children, David Dodson, Mark Dodson, Bill Dodson, Marsha Gray (Rodney), Beth Dodson, and Mitchell Dodson (Heather); grandchildren, Morgan Dodson, Bryce Dodson, Hayden Dodson, Hailey Gray, Sydney Dodson, and Lorelai Dodson; great- grandchild, Jace Gray; sister, Jo Ann Buracker (Kenny); brother, Netus Dodson (Hope); and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his six siblings, Janet Vest, Lou Good, Nadine Atkins, Mac Dodson, and Wayne Dodson.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Bruce Beeler and John Vest officiating.

Interment will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA, with Military Honors provided by VFW Post 2524.
Pallbearers serving the family will be Cody Dodson, Hayden Dodson, Mitchell Dodson, David Dodson, Dean Atkins, and Ronnie Dodson.
Honorary Pallbearers serving the family will be Neal Atkins, Don Dodson, J.R. Good, Netus Lee Dodson, John Dodson, and Will Dodson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the American Legion Post 330 at 14222 Rixeyville Road, Culpeper, VA, 22701.
